Myth: Canadian beer is stronger than American beer

Well, today I found out that Canadian beer is actually about the same as American beer in terms of alcohol content (not counting Unibrue, etc which are off the wall > 8%)

The reason is that in Canada we calculate alcohol percentage based on volume while in the States they do it by weight... so 5% in Canada approximately equals 4% in the States...

just thought i'd share

I have never heard of or seen alcohol being measured by weight. I find it suprising, a little too suprising to believe but i don't know for sure so i shall store this bit of info in my 'doubful but perhaps true, to be further investigated' file.
