Are you one of a million?
This recent NPO has a rather interesting approach to solving global issues: expose a global issue (e.g., refugee camps) to 1 million people, then move on to another one. While I feel it's a great initiative and agree that knowledge of global issues is always amiss, I'm somehow skeptical.
- Will it reach those people who have the (will)power to effect change?
- Would it effect your vote?
- Maybe even give you a perpetually-ingrained sense of social responsibility?
Ultimately I question whether the internet, since its birth, has brought (more) social justice to the world? Perhaps I just fear that the quiet welcome surge of late in ewareness is just the latest marketing ploy, and is diluting what could instead be a harbinger of a less Orwellian world.

3 easy steps to make Alice laugh hysterically:
Step 1 - Run for Premier of Quebec
Step 2 - Have your party win
Step 3 - Manage to NOT get elected in your own riding
Oh Jean, honey, no...

Saint-Patrick's Friday
Come out to see the first and perhaps only show of... wait for it...: Ceoltóirí!
They are playing from 7 to 11 at Benelux, Friday the 16th. Come for the 4$ pints and stay until you go mad and stab out your eardrums with a pocket knife from all that traditional Irish music.
The band declares 'Don't expect any Plastic Paddy
Vaudevillian American-Irish tenor shite either, this is pure drop,
hard core trad Irish music. Hell, no songs even, just instrumentals,
nothing composed after 1920, guaranteed.'

FIFA
Folks,
Don't get your hopes up just by reading the title of the post, no it's not for soccer. The FIFA actually stands for Festival International des Films sur l'Art and it seriously is a great festival for those who like movies, and art! Movies about jazz/classic/all the styles you want/ musicians, architects (Arthur Erickson), photographers (Philippe Koudjina), danse, modelling, everything's there!
Don't miss this unique rendez-vous with Montréal and its fantastic culture!
